Jan Nilsson

Jan Nilsson

(*1931 Stockholm, †2021 Visby), studied piano at the Academy of Music in Stockholm and at the same time completed private composition studies. Afterwards he first worked as a piano teacher. After training as a Waldorf teacher and working for two years at Kristofferskolan in Stockholm, he worked as a musician at the curative home Mikaelgården in Järna from 1966 to 1989. Here, his pedagogical and therapeutic work gave rise to an extensive, only partially published compositional oeuvre. From 1989 until retirement age he worked in Vidaråsen (Norway), a Camphill community for adults. He spent the last years of his life, devoted to composing and a variety of anthroposophical activities, on the island of Gotland (Sweden).
